Welcome to the California Fugitive Gas Emissions Study!
The purpose of this study—which includes both an online survey and free on-site leak detection tests--is to help improve understanding of the sources and magnitude of unintentional gas leaks (i.e., fugitive gas emissions) in California.
The target participants for this study include both (1) building/facility managers and (2) business operators who can provide data on building characteristics and natural gas usage at commercial buildings in California.
Free On-Site Leak Detection Tests: This program is offering free on-site testing to detect any methane leaks or wasted gas on your property. These leak tests can help you to lower your fuel costs and reduce your GHG emissions, while providing valuable data to help state-wide environmental protection efforts. The testing does not impact normal business operations, and all data collected will remain confidential.
Short Online Survey: This study also includes a short survey about your business’ building characteristics and gas usage. It contains 15 short questions that should only take around 5 minutes to complete. Providing this data will help orient our on-site testing team before their visit, while helping state policymakers to estimate fugitive emissions and create better, targeted solutions.
Help spread the word! If you know of others that you think could participate in this study or benefit from free on-site leak testing, please forward them the website link above.
And please write to [email protected] if you have any questions about the study or would like assistance in completing the survey or scheduling an on-site leak detection test.
